They have to send investigators out to interview you, your family, friends, coworkers, former employers, etc. It is possible to get a TS/SCI, but only if your job requires it (and it won't when you get straight out of AIT). Just because there can be 25Us at any station doesn't mean there is an opening. They will put you where there is an open slot for someone of your rank and MOS. You can go on AKO to the Assigment Satisfaction Key and put in your top three choices for duty stations CONUS and OCONUS. If nothing else, when you get to your permanent duty station you can go to the education center and ask about it. Getting a degree while enlisted is possible. You really can end up just about anywhere. You can end up in any kind of unit and deploy with any kind of unit.
